A man asked the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), "When
will the Hour

be established O Allah's Apostle?" The Prophet (sal Allahu
alaihi wa sallam)

asked, "What have you prepared for it?" The man said, "I haven't
prepared

for it much of prayers or fast or alms, but I love Allah and His
Apostle."

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "You will be
with those whom

you love." [Bukhari]

There are three important points to note here:

1. There is something more important than knowing when the Day
of Judgement

will occur. The more important thing is our preparation for that
Day. What

good or bad deeds have you sent forth for that Day? Each
person's Judgement

begins as soon as they die, and their grave becomes either a pit
of fire or

a garden of Paradise. Therefore, the most relevant thing to
worry about are

our daily deeds, as we never know when we will die and our
Judgement

commence.

2. The questioner in the hadith did the required (Fardh)
prayers, fasts, and

charity but not a whole lot extra. Some people do the opposite;
they neglect

the Fardh while doing a lot of the Sunnah (supererogatory). This
is

misguided because the greatest reward is for Fardh deeds and
punishment is

for neglecting the Fardh, not the Sunnah.

3. Most sobering is that you will be with the people you love on
the Day of

Judgement. If you love the Muslims, you will be with the Muslims
and will

follow them where they will go (Jannah). If you have love for
the Kuffar,

you will be with the Kuffar on the Day of Judgement. Peer into
your heart to

see who it is you really love. This will tell you where you will
be on the

Day of Judgement.

On the Day of Judgement "Allah will tell the people, 'Follow the
gods you

used to worship.' So whoever used to worship the cross will
follow the

cross, and whoever used to worship an idol will follow that
idol." What

Allah is telling us is that if somebody didn't worship Him, they
shouldn't

expect the Reward from Him either. They should go to the gods
they

worshipped for their reward. That's the justice of Allah. Then
Allah

(subhana wa ta'ala) will take all the false gods and throw them
in Hell; and

their people will have to follow them. And there is No god
besides Allah.

Assalaam-u-Alaikum,

Ramadhaan Mubarak to one and all!!!

Shukr to Allah and His infinite mercy that we are all once again

Hadrat Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported: ‘The Messenger of Allah
(peace be upon him) said,

"When any one of you is observing a fast on a day, he should
neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his
voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him he
should say: `I am observing fast.```

Related by Bukhari and Muslim.

Commentary:

Some people think that fasts entails merely the abstention from
food, drink, and sexual intercourse. But when one is in a state
of observing fasts for the Pleasure of Allah, one is required to
abstain from using obscene or foul language, false conduct,
quarrels, disputes, etc.; and if someone reviles him or tries to
quarrel with him, he should politely declare ‘I am observing
fast (for the Pleasure of Allah)’ and leave that person alone.

In another narration the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)
declared: ‘Some people get nothing (no rewards) for their fasts
except hunger and thirst.’

Raees Khan

Assalaamu Alaikum/Good Day.

I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by. It seems like
just yesterday that Ra-ees was discharged from Groote Schuur
Hospital amidst much celebration. Since that day,(02 June) he
has been making steady progress (Algamdulillah/Praise God).

Initially he was extremely tired and did not do much. His
appetite was very poor, he showed little interest in
activities, he was very quiet and hardly spoke to anyone. His
doctor also suggested we keep an eye on his overall mood,
feeling that he might need to speak to someone about his
experiences and perhaps that might help him. I agreed with him
because his apathy was something new to me. About two weeks
later he was admitted to Red Cross Hospital with CMV. A virus
which they constantly screen his blood for and can occur in
about 50 percent of post transplant cases. It meant that he
needed to stay in hospital on an intravenous drip for about two
weeks. Funny thing was that during his stay his mood actually
improved. He started chatting and even smiling a bit. Perhaps it
was the virus that had kept him feeling down or maybe it was the
hospital, where he has spent so much of his childhood, that
changed things, but I can't say for sure.

At this time his doc suggested that he remove his Hickman Line
as soon as he was discharged. Ra-ees was very apprehensive about
this and actually asked for more time. His medication had also
been reduced and he was being weaned from the Cyclosporin, which
is an anti-rejection(of the transplanted graft) medication. One
of the side effects of it is excessive hair growth which has
lead to Ra-ees having hair on his head, eyebrows and eyelashes
(and lovely silky hair on is back, but this will fall out again
after meds stopped).

He was discharged on oral antibiotics on the 12 July and we were
extremely happy to be home. I could barely stand being there
another minute. Was going through my own kind of crazy. At our
follow up visit Dr Hendricks set the date for the removal of his
line. Shortly after being discharged, Ra-ees also developed an
itch, which we initially thought might be a complication of the
transplant. It kept Ra-ees from falling asleep and he would go
to bed crying. After checking with the dermatologist, it turned
out to be a form of eczema which is now under control but he is
still not able to sleep easily.

On the 28th of July, the Hickman line, which he had had in for
nearly a year, was removed, and I was there to see it. He was
given meds to make him sleep (for all of five min) during which
time they pulled it out. I think I was just as anxious as he was
and it wasn't great to watch them remove it, but he wouldn't let
go of my hand even while he was asleep! It has been 2 weeks
since that time and he is still doing well, Algamdulillah/Praise
God. He has started lessons from home and is quite happy to do
the schoolwork. I waited for him to tell me when he was ready as
I didn't wanna push him. It has been off to a good start, and
with the help of an ex-teacher, Mrs Livesey, who has been
phenomenal and very supportive, he could possibly make up the
whole year's work. Insha-Allah/God-Willing, I also hope to
enlist the help of a counsellor to deal with his insomnia
because it has been nearly three weeks since he started with
this problem and unfortunately I seem ill-equipped to help him.

Algamdulillah/Praise God, we have come such a long way since
last year October after receiving news about his relapse and I
sincerely wish to thank everyone who has been so supportive of
Ra-ees and our family during our journey to this point. May
Almighty Allah/God shower you and your family with his richest
blessings Insha-Allah.

Furthermore, We would like to wish all our Muslim brethren a
Ramadaan Kareem Insha-Allah.

Shukran,
Sumaya, Wahkiem, Ra-ees and Uzair Khan

Proven Techniques for a Successful Positive Change this Ramadan

You CAN do it!!!

The Messenger of Allah Muhammad[peace be upon him] has
said,"Almighty Allah says, 'I treat my slave (man) according to
his expectations from Me, and I am with him when he remembers
me. If he remembers Me in his heart, I remember him in My
heart…. if he walks towards Me, I run unto him."[Hadith-Qudsi]

Make this Ramadan the month of “Change”..Are You Ready for it???

"Change" is the vogue today. "Change" is being chanted by the
Presidents to rally up public support; "Change" is being
demanded by the masses suffering due to skyrocketing fuel and
commodity prices; "Change", a drastic one indeed, is what we are
witnessing with awe in the global weather patterns.

For Muslims, Ramadan is the prime time for change. This month
dramatically alters our routines and schedules. From tight sleep
schedules, to hunger for extended hours, to reduction in
consumption of junk foods, to a technology diet; to withdrawal
from caffeine addiction, to lengthy standing in Taraweeh prayers
at night, to extensive listening to the Quran. What a change
indeed!

Beyond Routines and Rituals

The real change, however, Ramadan demands of us is the internal
change – a change that positively transforms our lifestyle,
character, attitudes, conversations, and habits. Allah has
described this change in the month of Ramadan as follows: "O you
who believe, fasting has been ordained on you as it was decreed
upon those before you so that you may adopt Taqwa[Taqwa is Allah
consciousness ]" (2:183 [Quran 2:183].

Slavery to Ramadan?

If our change is limited to outer physical practices only, we
become slaves to Ramadan, instead of being servants to Ar-Rahman
(Allah, the Merciful).

Prophet Muhammad[peace be upon him] has warned us about those
who don't fast from bad behaviour:

"Allah has no interest in any person's abstention from eating
and drinking, if that person does not give up lying and
dishonest actions" [Sahih al-Bukhari].

Ramadan Resolutions

Every Ramadan we make resolutions and tell ourselves: "This
Ramadan will be different. I'm going to change my ______ habit."
"I will give up ………", "I will take my practice of Islam to the
next level". But how many of us are really able to follow
through? Plenty of good intentions, many amazing wishes, but
sadly enough, life goes on as usual the morning of Eid.

Ask yourself, how is my fasting benefitting my spiritual
connection with Allah? How is my extensive worship in Ramadan
helping me discipline my tongue (taste and speech), eyes, ears,
and habits?

Are you ready to take that first step to transform your bad
habits into good ones?

Ways to Kick Bad Habits

Few things are more demanding than eliminating bad habits, since
they are part of our daily routines and personality. It takes
days of patience and practice to break old habits.

However, the good news is, Ramadan offers a perfect and natural
environment for moral training. Interestingly, researches from
"positive psychology" (scientific study of successful people)
have repeatedly shown it takes between 30 to 40 days to kick a
bad habit and develop a new one.

In addition to the physical discipline during the month of
Ramadan, the increased spiritual exercise and connection with
Allah, can transform your habits for life.

Try these proven techniques for a successful positive change in
your habits during Ramadan and beyond!

1. Acknowledge and Identify your bad habits: First step is to
admit you need to change. If you are in a state of denial, you
won't recognize that you have a bad habit to change.

2. Pick a habit for this month: Prioritize your bad habits and
focus on one for this month. If you are committed to changing at
least one habit, you will see remarkable results, Allah-willing.

3. Realize that it's in us to change: Don't believe the old
saying, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." You can break a
bad habit if you really want to. No one else can change your
habits, if you don't want to.

4. Remember, Allah loves those who commit mistakes and repent:
Prophet Muhammad[peace be upon him] said:

"By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin,
Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you
by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from
Allah, and He would have pardoned them." [Sahih Muslim]

5. Intention & Plan to change: "If you fail to plan, you plan to
fail." A healthy process of change in character requires a
gradual pace, which entails planning. Develop concrete
milestones to measure your progress.

6. Replace a bad habit with a good one: Completely eliminating a
habit is more challenging than replacing it with a more
productive habit. Moreover, it's crucial to replace the lost
natural needs, such as the need to socialize and to be
entertained with something healthy.

For instance, it's easier to replace or balance your addiction
to TV with a physical workout or reading, than to suddenly
remove the TV from your life. Interestingly, Prophet Muhammad
[peace be upon him], the greatest 'psychologist' of humanity,
illustrated this principle in these words:

"Fear Allah wherever you may be; follow up an evil deed with a
good one which will wipe (the former) out, and behave good-
naturedly towards people." [At-Tirmidhi]

7. Change your Environment: Resist the negative peer pressure by
finding a better company of friends. Collective action to change
is very powerful. Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] explained
this peer pressure effect with this analogy:

"A good friend and a bad friend are like a perfume-seller and a
blacksmith: The perfume-seller might give you some perfume as a
gift, or you might buy some from him, or at least you might
smell its fragrance. As for the blacksmith, he might singe your
clothes, and at the very least you will breathe in the fumes of
the furnace." [Sahih al-Bukhari & Muslim]

8. Exercise: Spiritual exercise is important for lasting
change. You may not realize that by exerting your yourself in
spiritual exercises like the reading of Quran and Hadith,
fasting, giving charity, Zikr[remembering Allah] etc helps in
eliminating a number of bad habits. Through the spiritual light
of doing noble deeds evil ones will gradually be eradicated from
your life. Allah says : “Indeed, Salah restrains from Shameful
and unjust deeds” [Quran:29:45]. A person complained to the
Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] about someone who read
salaah and also committed theft .The Prophet Muhammad [peace be
upon him] said “His salaat will very soon wean him off that
sin.' This shows that the evil habits can be got rid of by
adhering to good practises. The doing of good deeds such as
remembering Allah cleanses the heart. A clean heart encourages a
person to do good deeds and refrains one from evil habits!

Moreover, exercising your will power (struggle to fight
temptations) for this month helps you kick all kinds of bad
habits and form new good ones. Willpower is like a muscle; the
more you exercise it, the more you strengthen it.

9. Think of yourself as a changed, different, new person. This
simple psychological shift in your thinking about your own image
can do wonders. Tell yourself, "I can't continue this ill-
behaviour. I am better than that. I am stronger. I am wiser."

10. Reward success: The most fundamental law in all of
psychology is the "law of effect." It simply states that actions
followed by rewards are strengthened and likely to recur.
Unfortunately, studies show that people rarely use this
technique when trying to change personal habits.

Setting up formal or informal rewards for success greatly
increases your chances of transforming bad habits into good
ones, and is far more effective than punishing yourself for bad
habits or setbacks. As Muslims we should also remember that the
ultimate reward is Allah's Pleasure and Paradise in the
Hereafter.

11. Get help: Tell someone about your effort to change if it
helps. He or she may keep you on track and may offer some good
advice. Read books that will encourage you to do virtues
actions. Join programs in your local Mosque. Ladies should
endeavour to join their local Taalimi Halqas. There are good and
sincere people who are ready to assist. We are not an island- We
are an Ummah!

12. Boost your spiritual immune system: By fasting, doiung good
actions, spending time in the Mosque or going in the path of
Allah will boost your Imaan[faith] which will provide you with
internal strength to overcome temptations to reverting to old
bad habits.

13. Remind yourself of Death and Hereafter often: "Remember
often the terminator (or destroyer) of all the pleasures [i.e.
death]," the Prophet [peace be upon him]once stated. [At-
Tirmidhi.]

14. Resolve to continue on and follow up: Giving up bad habits
or learning good habits requires regular maintenance and
determination. It is a long, ongoing process, also known as
"Tazkiyyah" in Islamic terminology. It's more difficult than the
first few steps of change. ("How many times have I dieted, for
example, only to gain the weight back?"). So ensure that you
follow up. Link yourself to a good Allah-fearing Islamic Scholar
and make a habit of spending time in Allah path.

15. Develop a relapse strategy: How do you ensure not to return
to your bad habit you are trying to change? Some people donate
money to a good cause every time they return to sinning or a bad
habit. This reminds them of the 'cost' of going back to old bad
habits. Others try physically demanding acts to deter them from
reverting to old ways. For example that if you do___ act than
you will keep three fast or pay so much sadaqah[charity] etc

16. Ask Allah for Help: MOST IMPORTANT!-Make Asking for Allah's
Help an integral part of the overall change process. Ask for
Allah's Help before, during and after every attempt at kicking a
bad habit. Do so sincerely, even begging and crying, like a
child does when he or she really wants something. Allah is Ever-
Willing to Help and to Respond to our needs, but it is us who
must take the first step towards Him. Allah will NEVER
disappoint us!

"And whosoever is conscious of Allah and keeps his duty to Him,
He (Allah) will make a way for him to get out (from) every
(difficulty), and He will provide him from (sources) he could
never imagine." [Quran 65:2-3]

Benefits of dates

Muslims generally break their fast by eating dates. Prophet
Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) is reported to have
said: "if anyone of you is fasting, let him break his fast with
dates. In case he does not have them, then with water. Verily
water is a purifier."

The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) used to break his fast
by eating some dates before offering Maghrib prayer, and if ripe
dates were not available, he used to substitute them with some
dried grapes. When they too were not available, he used to have
a few sips of water, according to some reports. Modern science
has proved that dates are part of a healthy diet. They contain
sugar, fat and proteins, as well as important vitamins. Hence
the great importance attached to them by the Prophet(sallallahu
alaiyhi wassallam).

Dates are also rich in natural fibres. Modern medicine has shown
that they are effective in preventing abdominal cancer. They
also surpass other fruits in the sheer variety of their
constituents. They contain oil, calcium, sulphur, iron,
potassium, phosphorous, manganese, copper and magnesium. In
other words, one date is a minimum of a balanced and healthy
diet. Arabs usually combine dates with milk and yogurt or bread,
butter and fish. This combination indeed makes a self-sufficient
and tasty diet for both mind and body. Dates and date palms have
been mentioned in the Holy Qur'an 20 times, thus showing their
importance. The Prophet likened a good Muslim to the date palm,
saying, "Among trees, there is a tree like a Muslim. Its leaves
do not fall."

Sayyidah Mariam(alaiyhas salaam) mother of Isa(alaiyhis salaam)
had dates as her food when she felt labour pains and during
confinement. They are definitely the "crown of sweets," and
ideal food which is easy to digest, and within half an hour of
taking it, the tired body regains a renewed vigour. The reason
for this is that a shortage of sugar in the blood is the main
factor that makes people feel hungry and not an empty stomach as
is often assumed. When the body absorbs the nutritional essence
of a few dates, the feeling of hunger becomes appeased. When one
breaking the fast with dates takes some other food afterwards,
he cannot eat much. It would seem that breaking the fast with
dates then helps one avoid excessive eating.

Experiments have also shown that dates contain some stimulants
that strengthen the muscles of the uterus in the last months of
pregnancy. This helps the dilation of the uterus at the time of
delivery on one hand and reduces the bleeding after delivery on
the other. Dieticians consider dates as the best food for women
in confinement and those who are breast-feeding. This is because
dates contain elements that assist in alleviating depression in
mothers and enriching the breast-milk with all the elements
needed to make the child healthy and resistant to disease. The
Prophet (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) has emphasized the
importance of dates and their effectiveness in the growth of the
fetus. He has also recommended they be given to women. Modern
dietary institute now recommend dates to be given to children
suffering from a nervous nature or hyperactivity. The Prophet
(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) has also recommended dates as a
medicine for heart troubles, according to some reports. Modern
science has also proved the effectiveness of date, in preventing
diseases of the respiratory system.

Sayyidah Ayisha, (R.A.) wife of Prophet (sallallahu alaiyhi
wassallam), used to prescribe dates for those suffering from
giddiness. It is now well known that a fall in the level of the
sugar in the blood and low blood pressure are among the causes
of giddiness. She was also reported to have used dates combined
with cucumber to treat her over-slim condition! She said,
"they've tried to fatten me giving me everything. But I did not
become fat. Then they fattened me with cucumber and ripe dates
and I gained!" Ayisha was quite correct, as we now know that one
kilogram of dates contains nearly 3,000 calories which alone are
sufficient to supply the minimum daily requirements of an active
man for one full day.

Dates are rich in several vitamins and minerals. When the level
of trace elements falls in the body, the health of the blood
vessels is affected leading to an increased heart-rate and a
consequent inability to perform its function with normal
efficiency. As dates are also rich in calcium, they help
strengthen the bones. When the calcium content in the body
decreases, children are affected with rickets and the bones of
adults become brittle and weak.

Dates are also important in keeping up the health of eyes. It is
quite effective in guarding against night-blindness. In the
early years of Islam, dates served as food for Muslim warriors.
They used to carry them in special bags hung at their sides.
They are the best stimulant for muscles and so the best food for
a warrior about to engage in battle.

The Prophet (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) used to combine dates
with bread sometimes. At other times he mixed ripe dates with
cucumber, or dates combined with ghee. He used to take all
varieties of dates, but he preferred the variety called Ajwah.

(2) Radio Islam M.U.S.A.A.F.I.R Campaign

Many would agree that we live in an era where problems abound and
people feel lost and alone. Radio Islam through it’s
M.U.S.A.A.F.I.R campaign aims to bring the community together.
Every week, for four weeks, the M.U.S.A.A.F.I.R team will give
the listeners a new scenario with a theme for each week. We will
give you the problems and you will send us the winning solutions.

Our aim on this journey:

Every traveller looks to set up camp along the way and the
M.U.S.A.A.F.I.R’s first stop is a place of much difficulty and
disunity between husband and wife. In this camp solutions need to
b found in order to get to a place of MARITAL UNITY.

The second camp gets more challenging as two women in almost
every household battle it out to be head of their camp and to
keep those camp fires burning well. SERENITY ATTAINMENT between
mother in law and daughter in law is the goal of the second of
our journey together.

Travellers, young and old experience the anxiety that comes with
an ever changing terrain. Let’s get to a place of ASSURED FAMILY
for generations to come, as we tackle the chaos that reigns
between parents and their children.

Finally we come to the expenses that we incur in our travels and
that of INCOME RESPONSIBILTY does not come without it’s share of
difficulties between employer and employee. The the
M.U.S.A.A.F.I.R needs your assistance as we travel this last leg
of our journey together.

Radio Islam listeners, put on those thinking caps. Let’s travel
together, let’s fix those burning, shattered camps and let’s
build places of comfort for future generation’s travelling the
same path.

::::::::::WITH EVERY STEP WE GET CLOSER TO OUR DESTINATION:::::::::::
M.U.S.A.A.F.I.R

Because we are all travelers in life.

If you find yourself relating to the on air scenerio’s and you
feel the situation mirrors your own, remember that when writing,
do not rewrite your life story, we want the Solutions to the
issues raised.

Send your story together with Your full name, ID Number, Landline
and Cell phone numbers to:

5 Things before Going to Bed

The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْه وَاٰله وَسَلَّ one day said
to Ali: I do these five things before going to bed at night:
1. Give 4000 dinars in sadaqa and then sleep
2. Read one complete Qur’an and then sleep
3. Pay the price for Jannah and then sleep
4. Make two people happy with each other when they are
upset
and then sleep
5. Do one hajj and then sleep

Ali said Ya Rasullullah صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْه وَاٰله وَسَلَّ!
This looks impossible, how will I be able to do it? Then the
Prophet
صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْه وَاٰله وَسَلَّ replied:

4 times reading Surah Fatiha is equals to four thousand dinars
giving
in sadaqa.

3 times reading Surah Ikhlaas (Qul hu Allahu Ahad) is equals to
one
complete Qur’an.

3 times reading any Durood Shareef (shortest: صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى
عَلَيْه وَاٰله وَسَلَّ) is the price of Jannah.

10 times Astaghfirullah (or any Istighfaar) is equals to making
to
unhappy people happy with each other.

4 times third Kalimah is equals to one hajj.

After this Ali said, Ya Rasullullah صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْه
وَاٰله وَسَلَّ now I will do all these before going to bed.

My dear brothers and sisters, it takes less then 5 mins for all
the
above Zikr and look at the virtues for it.....who would not want
to
have all these virtues to be in their book of good deeds.

To remind oneself of it, the easiest way is to write down on a
piece
of paper all the above Zikr to be done b4 going to sleep and
stick
that piece of paper just next to your bed....and of course Allah
is
the one to remind.

It will be very nice of u if you could please forward this to
as many
Muslims as possible because if anyone starts doing these A’maal
then
there is no doubt that u will also be rewarded for it.

 Insha Allah.

جزاكم الله خير الجزاء

Israfil

A team of German physicists led by Frank Steiner at the
University of Ulm is claiming that the universe is shaped like a
trumpet; how very interesting. It may be old news to many of
you but my friend, sidi Idris Kamal, spoke of it today on our
way to the masjid and it was certainly news to me.

I did a little research into this matter and found an article in
the Independent dated the 4th April 2004

The concept follows a close examination of the dramatic data
produced by Nasa, the US space agency, in 1996, which showed
that the very faint microwave radiation left over from the Big
Bang 13 billion years ago was not evenly spread throughout the
cosmos. This lack of evenness - called “anisotropy” - suggested
that large-scale models of the shape of the universe, previously
thought to be a flat expanse of space time, were wrong.

Ever since then, cosmologists have puzzled over what the data
from the Cosmic Background Explorer (Cobe) spacecraft could tell
them about the space-time “shape” of the universe. One rival
group proposed last year that the universe was shaped instead
like a football. But that would have left a particular pattern
of background radiation - which has not been found by further
experiments.

In the “flat” space of conventional cosmology, small “blobs” -
hot and cold spots - in background radiation should be round.
But observations show that instead they are ellipses. The curve
of a horn-shaped universe can explain this, says Professor
Steiner.

The “space” in any small part of the “horn” is saddle-shaped,
like a Pringles potato crisp. Such a “negatively curved” space
would act as a warped lens, distorting the image around the
blobs so they look elliptical to astronomers.

Another property of a “trumpet” universe would be that large
blobs more than about 60 degrees across would be absent. So far,
scientists have also found this to be the case.

That article shows I am clearly having to play catch up in this
matter…I had no idea, its amazing!

Allah talks about the creation in the Qur’an

It is He (Allah) who created the heavens and the earth in true
(proportions): the day He said, “Be,” behold! it is. His word is
the truth. His will be the dominion the day the trumpet will be
blown. He knows the unseen as well as that which is open. For He
is the Wise, well acquainted (with all things) Quran 6:73

The trumpet will (just) be sounded, when all that are in the
heavens and on earth will swoon, except such as it will please
Allah (to exempt)… Quran: 39:68

It is very interesting to know that the shape of our universe is
shaped like a trumpet, I have imagined the Angel Israfil at the
tip of the universe or trumpet inhaling, ready for the command
of Allah to blow it. Amazing.

Prophet Muhammad said in a hadith

“Every prophet has two viziers from the inhabitants of heaven
and two from the inhabitants of earth; my two from heaven are
Gabriel and Michael.” When Israfil blows the trumpet, Gabriel
will stand at his right hand and Michael at his left.”

TO ALL BEAUTIFUL MUSLIMS

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in ALLAH that a man should
have to seek Him first to find her.'

When I say that 'I am a Muslim', I am not shouting that 'I am
clean living.
I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say 'I am a Muslim' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Allah to be my guide.

When I say 'I am a Muslim' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say 'I am a Muslim' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need Allah to clean my mess.

When I say 'I am a Muslim' I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are far too visible, but Allah believes I am worth it.

When I say 'I am a Muslim' I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say 'I am a Muslim' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner who received Allah's good grace,
somehow!

Pretty is as Pretty does but, Beautiful is just plain Beautiful.

The Kalima

The Kalima [Phrase], La ilaha illa’llah, Muhammadur Rasulullah

Allah the Exalted has said:

Surely I am Allah, there is no god but I, therefore serve Me…
(Qur’an, 20:14);

Allah! There is no deity save Him, the Alive, the Eternal...
(Qur’an, 2:255);

And We sent no messenger before thee but We inspired him,
(saying): There is no god save

Me (Allah), so worship Me. (Qur’an, 21:25);

Obey Allah and obey His messenger; but if ye turn away, then the
duty of Our messenger

is only to convey (the message) plainly. (Qur’an, 64:12);

Whoso obeyeth the Apostle obeyeth God… (Qur’an, 4:80);

and: …whatsoever the Messenger giveth you, take it. And
whatsoever he forbiddeth,

abstain (from it). And keep your duty to Allah… (Qur’an, 59:7).

The words of this blessed Kalima and its translation

The Kalima consists of two parts, the first being La ilaha
illa’llah and the second,

Muhammadur Rasulullah. The translation of the Kalima: There is
no god but Allah, and

Muhammad (S.A.W) is the Messenger of Allah.

The Kalima is a sacred pledge between man and his Creator, in
which man

acknowledges that Allah is He “who is possessed of all the
attributes of

perfection and majesty, is beyond contingency, beyond having
associates or

peers, beyond resembling anything, and beyond any attribute or
state which

does not befit His Glory and Magnitude. For He is the Unique
Divinity, the One,

the Self-Sufficient, who neither begets nor is begotten, who has
no likeness. There

is no god but Him, Transcendent is He. Nothing shares in His
Essence,

Attributes, or actions; to Him belong Sovereignty and all
praise, and He has

power over all things.”

1 “Through sound belief and certainty in its [the Kalima’s]

meaning, and by submission to it, one attains to faith or iman.”

2 In addition to acting in accordance with it, when one affirms
with sincerity that there is no god but

Allah, and Muhammad (S.A.W) is the Messenger of Allah, Islam
results. “By

joining sound belief with submission to its authority there
dawns in the heart the

reality of excellence or ihsan.”

3 To further elucidate, by affirming both parts of the Kalima,
one admits before Allah that one is His sincere and faithful
slave. That

one will live every aspect of his or her life.

(Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) translated as “Peace and
Blessings of Allah be upon him” is said by Muslims

when the Prophet Muhammad’s (S.A.W) name is heard or uttered,
out of love and reverence for him.

Objective

Allah the Exalted has said:

Know that there is no god save Allah… (Qur’an, 47:19).

The purpose of this Kalima is twofold. (i) That one achieves
yaqin [certainty] of

the fact that whatever happens, happens with the Will of Allah;
that Allah is

capable of doing – without any help whatsoever from creation –
anything and

everything. Thereby achieving certainty that the ghayr of Allah,
that is creation,

cannot do anything without Allah’s Will. To become consciously
aware of the

fact that Allah is al-Musabbib al-asbab [the Cause of causes].
To be certain that

whatever is happening through a “cause” is not in reality
originating from it, but

rather, is happening only because Allah has willed it. For
example, water is

dependant on the hukm [command] of Allah to quench thirst. Also,
to cure,

medication is contingent on Allah’s hukm. Likewise, the human
heart depends on

the hukm of Allah to pulsate and nourish cells throughout the
body. Similarly,

without Allah commanding it to, the universe is devoid of any
power or ability

to exist.

Some of the merits or virtues of the blessed Kalima:

Abu Bakr (R.A) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W)said:
He

who accepts from me the Kalima, which I presented to my uncle
(Abu Talib at the time of his death) and he

rejected it, this (acceptance) will be a means for his
salvation.6

Talha ibne ‘Ubaidullah (R.A)narrates that the Messenger of Allah
(S.A.W) said: Indeed, I know a Kalima which if recited by a
dying man, will be a means of solace for his

departing soul and will be a light for him on the Day of
Resurrection (this Kalima is La ilaha illa’llah).

Anas (R.A) narrated (in a long narration) that the Prophet
(S.A.W) said:

Each and every such person will be liberated from the Fire, who
had said La ilaha illa’llah, and in his heart,

there was goodness (iman) equal to the weight of a grain of
barley. After them, every such person will be

liberated from the Fire who had said La ilaha illa’llah, and in
his heart, there was goodness (iman) equal to

the weight of a grain of wheat. After that, everyone will be
liberated from the Fire who had said La ilaha

illa’llah, and in his heart, there was goodness (iman) equal to
the weight of a particle of dust.

Abu Qatadah (R.A) narrates from his father that the Messenger of
Allah (S.A.W): He who bears witness that there is none worthy of
worship except Allah, and that

Muhammad (S.A.W)is the Messenger of Allah, and his tongue
frequently recites it while his heart

is contented with it, the Fire shall not burn him.

Mu’adh ibne Jabal (R.A) narrates that the Prophet (S.A.W) said:
Anyone

who dies, bearing witness with certainty of his heart that there
is none worthy of worship but Allah and that I am His Messenger,
will be forgiven by Allah.

The following words are from Key to the Garden by Habib Ahmad
Mashhur al-

Haddad:

“We shall now point some of the merits of this noble phrase [of
Tawhid], and the subtleties

and exalted secrets contained in its invocation. One of these
was referred to by the Prophet

(S.A.W) when he said, “He whose last words in the world are La
ilaha illa’llah shall

enter the Garden.” And he (S.A.W) said, “The people of La ilaha
illa’llah shall suffer

no desolation in their graves. It is as though I can see them
coming out of their graves,

shaking the dust off their heads, saying, ‘Praise be to God, who
has removed sadness from us; our Lord is indeed Forgiving,
Thankful’ (Qur’an 35:34).” And he (S.A.W) said, “The best

invocation is La ilaha illa’llah.” And he (S.A.W) said, “The
best thing that I and the

Prophets before me ever said is La ilaha illa’llah.” And [the
Prophet] (S.A.W) said

that his Lord declared, “Truly, I am God; There is no god but
Me. Whosoever affirms My

Oneness enters My fortress, and whosoever enters My fortress
shall be safe from My

chastisement.” And he (S.A.W) said “Renew your faith.” “How
should we renew our

faith?” he was asked. He said: “Say La ilaha illa’llah many
times.” And he (S.A.W) said,

“Subhan’ Allah is half the balance; al-Hamdulillah fills it; and
there is no veil between La ilaha illa’llah and God until it
reaches Him.” And he (S.A.W) said, “The one who testifies

that there is no god but God, that Muhammad is the Messenger of
God, that Jesus was the

servant of God and was His word cast into Mary, and a spirit
from Him, that the Garden is real and the Fire is real, shall
enter the Garden according to his deeds.” And in Imam Muslim’s
version: “God renders the Fire forbidden for a person who
affirms that there is no God but God and that Muhammad is the
Messenger of God.” And he (S.A.W) said,

“Anyone who says La ilaha illa’llah with sincere single-
heartedness shall enter the Garden.”

He was asked, “O Messenger of God, what does sincere single-
heartedness consist of?” And

he answered, “It restrains him from the things which God has
forbidden.” And he said,

“Make those of you who are dying repeat La ilaha illa’llah, for
it wipes away all preceding sins.” And he said to Mu’adh [ibn
Jabal], “O Mu’adh, no one affirms single-heartedly that

‘there is no god but God and that Muhammad is His Messenger’ but
that God renders the

Fire forbidden to him.” And he (S.A.W) said, “God has forbidden
to the Fire anyone

who says La ilaha illa’llah for His sake.” And he said to Abu
Hurayra (may God be pleased

with him), “Go, and whoever you find on the other side of this
wall who affirms La ilaha illa’llah with certainty in his heart,
give him glad tidings that he shall enter the Garden.”

A bedouin once came to the Prophet (S.A.W)and said, “O Messenger
of God! What

are the two inevitable things?” And he replied, ‘Whoever dies
without having associated

anything with God shall enter the Garden, and whoever dies
associating something with

God shall enter the Fire.” It is said that Moses (A.S) said, “O
Lord, teach me something

with which I can remember and pray to You.” And He said, “O
Moses, say La ilaha illa’llah.”

“Lord!” he replied, “All Your servants say that.” [God] said, “O
Moses! If the seven

heavens and their inhabitants, and the seven earths were in one
hand of a balance, and La ilaha illa’llah was in the other, La
ilaha illa’llah would outweigh them all.” And the Prophet
(S.A.W) once asked Mu’adh ibn Jabal, “Do you know what is God’s
right over His servants, and what right His servants have over
God?” And he replied, “God and His

Messenger know best.” “God’s right over His servants,” he told
him, “is that they should

worship Him and not associate anything with Him. And the right
of His servants over Him

is that He will not torment anyone who does not associate
anything with Him.” “O

Messenger of God! Mu’adh said, “Shall I not give people the good
news?” And he told him,

“Do not, for they would rely on it.”

And the Prophet (S.A.W)said, “Gabriel once came to me and said,
‘Give your

nation the good news that he who dies not having associated
anything with God shall enter

the Garden.’ I then said, ‘O Gabriel! Even if one had committed
theft and adultery?’ ‘Yes!’

he said. And I asked, ‘Even if he had committed theft and
adultery?’ ‘Yes!’ he said. And I

asked, ‘Even if he had committed theft and adultery?’ And he
replied, ‘Yes, even if he used to drink wine.’”

Achievement of objective

Allah the Exalted has said:

…Help one another to righteousness and piety; do not help one
another to sin and enmity...

(Qur’an, 5:2).

In this age of materialism and nihilism: religion, faith,
spirituality and the unseen

have become, in the minds of most, “invented ideas of pre-modern
man”. The

majority of Muslims, although not nearly as affected by the post-
modern

condition as concerns Aqidah [Creed], are not in any way immune
to the

continuous onslaught of materialism they are faced with each
day. In light of

this, for one to achieve the abovementioned objective of
engendering the

certainty that our individual and collective success lies in
following the blessed

Sunna, has increasingly become an uphill task. Keeping this in
view, one must

endeavor to perform tadhkira [reminders] of Allah with all his
attributes, His

Messenger (S.A.W) his life and struggles, the Companions, their
lives and

sacrifices, the brevity of one’s temporal existence, the
imminence of death, the

grave, the Day of Reckoning, the Garden, the Fire, and the
eternal expanse of the

Final Abode, consistently and continually, for Allah, Almighty
and Glorious is

He, has said, “…remind for reminding truly benefits believers.”
